A squat rack and a bench are the two pieces that turn a barbell into a gym: squats, bench press, overhead press, rows and everything on a bench. The question in 2026 is whether to buy them as one combo unit (a bench with a built-in barbell rack), a cage that ships with its own bench, or a proper rack and a separate bench bought as a pair. This guide ranks eight squat rack and bench combos and packages on capacity, bar fit, adjustability and price, using the brands’ own listings and Amazon’s, read on October 17, 2026.

Our pick is the Marcy Pro Deluxe Cage System with bench (PM-5108): a 14-gauge steel cage with adjustable bar catches and safeties, a high lat pulley and low pulley, and a removable incline/flat/decline bench with leg developer, all in one box. If you lift a 7 ft Olympic bar and want a rack that will take real weight, the FLYBIRD SR1 squat rack plus FLYBIRD adjustable bench is the best pair under $300, and the REP PR-1100 power rack plus AB-3100 bench (sold at repfitness.com) is the package to buy once. On a tight budget the CANPA Olympic bench with squat rack is the pick. Buying the rack on its own? Our best power racks under $500 guide goes deeper on cages.

Our pick

Marcy Pro Deluxe Cage System with Bench (PM-5108)

Marcy’s cage is the one squat rack and bench combo that arrives complete: a four-post cage of oversized 14-gauge square tubing with adjustable bar catches and safety catches sized for 6 and 7 ft bars, a high pulley lat tower and a low pulley row station, a pull-up bar, and a removable utility bench that adjusts to incline, flat and decline with a leg developer. Marcy rates the bar catches at 300 lb, the leg developer and sliding weight carriage at 100 lb each, and the user at 300 lb, so it is a beginner-to-intermediate cage rather than a powerlifting rack; if you plan to squat more than 300 lb, buy the REP package below. Amazon listed it with 426 ratings at 4.5 on October 17, 2026. Owners’ consistent notes: assembly takes an afternoon, the pulleys need your own weight plates (it takes standard 1 inch and Olympic 2 inch plates with the included adapters), and the bench is sturdier than the price suggests.

Capacities are the makers’ listed figures, not independently measured, and a “bench press” rating is the bench’s, not the rack’s.

1. Marcy Pro Deluxe Cage System with bench: best overall combo

The Marcy wins the combo category by doing the most for the money: the cage, two pulley stations, the pull-up bar and a real adjustable bench with a leg developer are all in the box, so the only thing you add is a bar and plates. Bar and safety catches adjust through the uprights, the lat tower takes a high-pulley pulldown and the low pulley gives rows and curls, and the bench slides out of the cage to use alone. Amazon lists it at 68.25 × 44.33 inches on the floor and 83.75 inches tall (148.7 lb), so measure the ceiling.

The limit is the 300 lb bar-catch rating. For most people building a first gym that is years away; for anyone already squatting three plates it is the wrong rack. Owners also note that the pulleys use your own plates on a carriage, so budget for a plate set; the included adapters let Olympic plates ride on the pegs, and the lat bar, handles, ankle strap and chains are in the box. Amazon: 426 ratings at 4.5, on October 17, 2026.

Buy it if: you want cage, pulleys and bench in one purchase under $450. Skip it if: you will load more than 300 lb or want a bench that stands on its own long-term.

2. FLYBIRD SR1 squat rack + FLYBIRD adjustable bench: best pair under $300

Two of Amazon’s best-selling budget pieces that happen to fit each other. The SR1 is a half rack of 2 × 2 inch steel rated at 950 lb, with 22 height settings on 1 inch holes, adjustable width to suit 6 ft and 7 ft bars, 16.7 inch safety arms, a foam-padded pull-up bar, a landmine and six band pegs; Amazon listed it with 314 ratings at 4.6. FLYBIRD’s adjustable bench is the most-reviewed bench on Amazon by a wide margin, 21,669 ratings at 4.5, rated 750 lb, with a 17.38 inch pad height (the IPF competition height) and a pull-pin lock. Together the pair gives you a proper squat, bench and overhead station with real safeties.

The trade-offs are the half-rack format (the bar sits in J-hooks on the front posts, so press inside the safeties) and the bench’s shorter pad, which taller lifters notice on flat presses. Both fold or come apart for storage.

Buy it if: you want a real rack and a real bench for under $300. Skip it if: you want a four-post cage or a bench with a leg developer.

3. REP PR-1100 + AB-3100: best power rack package

REP’s PR-1100 is the four-post cage that garage-gym forums recommend first under $400, and REP’s own listing explains why: 2 × 2 inch 14-gauge steel, a 700 lb rackable capacity, 85 inches tall, 58.1 inches wide and 48.5 inches deep with a 44 × 24 inch working area, 1 inch holes on 3 inch spacing, J-cups and pin-and-pipe safeties, a multi-grip pull-up bar and plate storage pegs. Pair it with REP’s AB-3100 adjustable bench, or the heavier and pricier AB-3000 2.0 FID bench, and you have the squat rack and bench package most people never need to replace.

REP sells direct only, so there is no Amazon link; shipping is quoted at checkout. If 85 inches is too tall for your basement, our low ceiling power rack guide lists the shorter options.

Buy it if: you lift a 7 ft bar seriously and want a cage you will still own in ten years. Skip it if: the ceiling is under 7 ft 2 in or the budget is under $500.

4. YOLEO All-in-One Weight Bench Set: best bench-with-rack all-in-one

YOLEO’s “Advanced Set” is the modern version of the classic bench-with-rack: a heavy steel frame, a flat/incline/decline back pad, a leg developer, a barbell rack with adjustable height and transport wheels, sold as one unit. YOLEO states an ASTM-certified capacity of 880 to 1,980 lb depending on the configuration, which is far above the older bench-rack combos, and Amazon listed it with 919 ratings at 4.4 when we checked.

The rack is attached to the bench, so squatting means stepping out from under the bar beside the bench; it works, but a standalone rack is more comfortable for squats. For bench press, incline press and leg work in one footprint it is the best of the integrated units.

Buy it if: you mostly press and want bench, rack and leg developer in one piece. Skip it if: squats are your main lift.

5. Valor Fitness BD-6: best squat and bench press rack for a 7 ft bar

The BD-6 is a squat stand built for benching: 2 × 2 inch 12-gauge steel, a 600 lb rating, nine sawtooth bar positions that let you set the bar at bench height or squat height without pins, adjustable safety arms, and four rear pegs that store Olympic plates and add ballast. It does not include a bench, so pair it with the FLYBIRD bench above or any flat bench. It is sold on Valor’s own site and on Amazon (70 ratings at 4.7 there on October 17, 2026); buy wherever the total with shipping is lower.

Buy it if: you want a sturdy squat and bench press stand with plate storage and already own, or will buy, a bench. Skip it if: you want a cage or pull-up bar.

6. CANPA Olympic Weight Bench with Squat Rack: best budget combo

The CANPA is the most-reviewed of the bench-with-rack combos under $150: a 2 × 2 inch H-shaped steel base, a widened frame for Olympic bars, a six-position squat rack height and a bench CANPA rates at 500 lb for bench press, folding for storage. Amazon listed it with 1,067 ratings at 4.5. It is a bench press station first and a squat rack second; the rack uprights are part of the bench, so squats are done beside it.

Buy it if: you want to bench and squat light to moderate weight for under $150. Skip it if: you need safeties for heavy solo squats.

7. Major Fitness F22 + PLT01 bench: best all-in-one for the long run

If the Marcy is the complete starter cage, the F22 is the complete serious one. Major Fitness builds it from 2 × 3 inch 14-gauge steel, 82.5 inches tall and 64.2 × 58.2 inches on the floor, with a dual independent pulley system (300 lb per side on the cables), 800 lb safety arms, 17 adjustable holes for the cable carriage and 14 for the uprights, a pull-up bar, dip bars and a landmine. The Standard version was listed at majorfitness.com on October 17, 2026; add the PLT01 adjustable bench (1,300 lb rating, 9 back and 4 seat positions) for a complete package. A pricier Pro version has upgraded pulleys.

It is twice the Marcy’s price and needs a plate set for the cables, but it is the only combo here with a true 800 lb rack rating, a full cable system and a bench rated over 1,000 lb. Compare it with other cable cages in our all-in-one home gym guide.

Buy it if: you want rack, cables and bench in one package and have the space. Skip it if: you will not use the cables; the REP package costs much less.

8. BalanceFrom Folding Workout Station: cheapest

This is the cheapest squat rack and bench combo with a real review base: 3,201 ratings at 3.9 on Amazon. It is a folding bench with a six-position barbell holder, a leg curl attachment, a 400 lb rating, and it works only with standard 1 inch bars and plates, not Olympic 2 inch bars. The 3.9 rating is honest: owners like the price and the fold, and dislike the thin padding and the flex under heavier loads. It is a first bench for a teenager’s room, not a rack for a 7 ft bar.

Buy it if: you have a standard bar and plates and want the cheapest bench with a rack. Skip it if: you own an Olympic bar or plan to lift more than your bodyweight.

How to choose a squat rack and bench combo

Decide combo, cage or pair first. A bench with a built-in rack (YOLEO, CANPA, BalanceFrom) is cheapest and smallest but makes squats awkward and has no safeties. A cage with a bench (Marcy) covers everything up to its rating. A separate rack and bench (FLYBIRD, REP, Major) costs more but each piece can be upgraded alone.

Match the bar. Olympic bars are 7 ft and 2 inch sleeves; standard bars are 5-6 ft and 1 inch. The BalanceFrom takes standard only; the CANPA and YOLEO are built for Olympic bars; the FLYBIRD SR1 adjusts its width for both.

Read the capacity line carefully. “500 lb bench press” is the bench’s rating. The number that matters for squats is the rack’s: 300 lb on the Marcy, 600 lb on the Valor, 700 lb on the REP, 800 lb on the F22’s safeties, 950 lb on the FLYBIRD. Our power racks under $500 guide explains why rackable capacity is the figure to compare.

Safeties are the difference between a rack and a stand. If you squat or bench alone, buy something with adjustable safety arms or pins: the Marcy, FLYBIRD, Valor, REP and Major all have them; the bench-with-rack units do not.

Measure the ceiling and the floor. Cages run 82-85 inches tall and need about 4 × 6 ft plus room to walk a bar out; the Marcy (68 × 44 in) and F22 (64 × 58 in) need a little more. A folding rack and a flat bench fit a bedroom; see our folding squat racks guide for wall-mounted options.

The bench is half the purchase. A flat bench at 17-18 inches high with a 1,000 lb rating outlasts most racks; our adjustable weight benches guide ranks them if you want to pick your own.

Frequently asked questions

What is the best squat rack and bench combo?

The Marcy Pro Deluxe Cage System with bench (PM-5108) is our pick for a complete combo: cage, two pulleys and an adjustable bench in one box, rated 300 lb on the bar catches. For heavier lifting, the REP PR-1100 rack with an AB-3100 bench is the package to buy once.

Is a squat rack and a bench enough for a home gym?

Yes. With a barbell and plates, a rack and an adjustable bench cover squats, bench press, incline press, overhead press, rows, Romanian deadlifts, lunges and pull-ups (if the rack has a bar). That is the core of our home gym under $1,000 build; dumbbells and a cable attachment come later.

Can you bench press in a squat rack?

Yes, and it is the safest way to bench alone: set the J-hooks just below lockout height and the safeties just above chest height, so a failed rep lands on the safeties. Any rack with adjustable safeties works; a bench-with-rack combo has no safeties, so keep the weight moderate.

How much space do you need for a squat rack and bench?

A cage needs about 4 × 6 ft of floor plus a 7 ft bar’s width (the bar sticks out about 1 ft each side), and 7 to 7.5 ft of ceiling for cages 82-85 inches tall with a pull-up bar you can use. A half rack like the FLYBIRD SR1 takes about 3.5 × 3.5 ft; a bench-with-rack combo about 4 × 2 ft.

Should I get a power rack or a squat stand?

A power rack (four posts, pin safeties) if you squat or bench heavy alone and have the ceiling height; a squat stand or half rack if space or budget is tighter. Our power rack guide compares both.

Can you squat with a weight bench that has a rack?

You can, by standing beside the bench and unracking from its uprights, but the uprights are low, there are no safeties, and the bench is in the way of a walk-out. Treat a bench-with-rack as a bench press station and buy a standalone rack when squats get heavy.

Bottom line: the Marcy cage with bench for a complete starter gym under $450; the FLYBIRD SR1 and bench for the best pair under $300; the REP PR-1100 and AB-3100 to buy once; the CANPA if $150 is the budget. Add flooring under whichever you choose.
